Meantime, the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality on Friday issued an ozone high pollution advisory for the weekend, urging drivers to travel as little as possible and avoid using leaf blowers.

The National Weather Service forecasts temperatures could exceed 110 degrees Saturday and Sunday and continue until Tuesday.

Forecasters said an “unseasonable strong” ridge of high pressure will expand across the Southwest, and Weather Service officials said strenuous physical activities should be avoided during the hottest times of the day.
A 31-day streak of 110 degrees in the Valley ended about a week ago, breaking 1974’s 18 straight days.
