Waymo helps adults with disabilities, raises awareness about epilepsy

Colin Longworth is a Waymo superfan — mostly out of necessity.

In addition to using Waymo as his main form of transportation, he is also one of the estimated 77,000 adults in Arizona who have epilepsy and can’t drive due to the risk of seizures.

Waymo is a fully autonomous vehicle that is controlled in part by operators and the rider. Riders have the option to stop the vehicle or call an employee in the event of an emergency. The first Waymo rides began serving Phoenix in May of 2018 and have now expanded to the highways across the Valley. The company has also partnered with the Epilepsy Foundation to increase awareness on the condition and support people with epilepsy in their transportation needs.
