Water safety event held in Apache Junction

Water safety — including proper use of life jackets and when to use hands-only CPR — was explained recently to Apache Junction families participating in the annual April Pools Day event.

Preregistration was required for a one-hour time slot April 30 at Superstition Shadows Aquatic Center, 1091 W. Southern Ave. in Apache Junction, to visit with vendors and meet with water safety instructors and lifeguards teaching families about the importance of being safe in, on and around the water.

“I just think it’s important to get people thinking about water safety and being safe in the water,” Tina Gerola, Superstition Fire and Medical District community risk reduction specialist, said.
