Federal officials to detail impacts at Lake Mead, Lake Powell

The U.S. Department of the Interior announced it will host a press conference Aug. 16 to reveal details on how water use will evolve to address the current drought conditions impacting the Colorado River.

The discussion is expected to address the long-term future and “sustainability of the Colorado River System, including ongoing engagement with impacted states and tribes, according to a press release.

Officials are expected to release a 24-month study, which sets the operating conditions for Lake Powell and Lake Mead for the upcoming year, the press release said.
