A helicopter dropped 60 buckets of water on a West Valley brush fire Monday, cooling hotspots and giving crews time to construct a fireline ahead of the blaze, authorities said.
Cloud cover on May 4 also helped moderate fire behavior, but it remained uncontained, according to a release from the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management, which adjusted the number of acres of the fire to 992.
The department is expected to conduct a “mapping mission” on Tuesday, depending on the behavior of the fire located southeast of Buckeye.
