Water discussion boils over at Scottsdale City Council budget hearing

Water was the subject of the hour — or nearly five hours — during the Scottsdale City Council’s budget hearing May 5.

And discussions got steamy at times as tempers flared over the issue.

The council got its first official look at the fiscal year 2026-27 budget of roughly $2.1 billion, as proposed by City Manager Greg Caton.
