Warren Francis Simon

Warren F. Simon, 92 passed away peacefully on January 10, 2026, at Royal Oaks, in Sun City, Arizona. He was the son of Francis A. Simon, and Catherine (Fischl) Simon.
Warren was preceded in death by his wife Katherine (Benitte) Simon and by his longtime companion Doris (Boemmel) Koob. Warren resided in Sun City, snow birding for 10 years, before becoming a full time resident, in 2004. He previously lived in Niles Illinois and Chicago, Illinois, where he was born.
He attended the Spaulding and Christopher Schools for crippled children, and graduated from Englewood High School. Warren was born with cerebral palsy, with his right side partially paralyzed. Warren never heard the word handicapped. Instead, he excelled in sports, including baseball, golf, bowling and boxing. He received boxing instruction at the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO), under the direction of Middleweight Champion Tony Zale. He won first place in the Chicago Sun~Times “Beat the Champions” bowling contest. He won a new car and a handsome plaque.
He was a forty-year dedicated employee of TWA Airlines, and is a lifetime member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. Warren traveled around the world, vacationing in over fourteen countries. He was blessed by three different Popes, at the Vatican in Rome. He had run-ins with greatness on many occasions. He met Babe Ruth, in the Wrigley Field dugout, as a boy.
At TWA Warren was a flight crew transporter, where he gave rides to many dignitaries and celebrities including, John F. Kennedy, Marilyn Monroe, and Elizabeth Taylor, to name a few. He enjoyed his retirement in Sun City, an avid golfer and lawn bowler.
Warren touched the lives of everyone he met. His selflessness and gentle quick-witted personality made him adorable. Warren was inspirational to those afflicted with a handicap, as well as those who are not. Warren will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
A special thanks to the caregivers and staff at Royal Oaks in Sun City, Arizona who provided him with exceptional care and comfort during his stay.
