Warning period over: Phoenix begins issuing photo camera speeding citations

The Phoenix Photo Safety Program will begin issuing citations Wednesday, March 25, to drivers who exceed posted speed limits.

The move follows a 30-day warning period, during which time the nine cameras captured more than 70,000 events of drivers exceeding posted speed limits, according to a city release.

“During the warning period of the Photo Safety Program, we saw an alarming number of drivers exceeding safe speeds,” Briiana Velez, street transportation director, said.
