Wanted: West Valley hotel developments

Facilities needed to accommodate visitors in growing cities

When COVID-19 hit Arizona, the state’s robust tourism and hospitality industries were the hardest hit.

But Arizona leaders say tourism is on its way back in a big way, and there’s a tremendous need for additional lodging to house all the visitors flocking to the Valley.

Even during a public health crisis, 2020 saw 32.1 million overnight visits to Arizona, according to data from the Arizona Office of Tourism. The office also reported $15 billion in direct spending on tourism for the year, down from $25.6 billion in pre-pandemic 2019. The state earned approximately $2.7 billion in tax revenue as well.
