Walter J. Ciesla, 92, formerly of Waukegan, IL, Sun City West, AZ, and most recently Rochester Hills, MI passed away peacefully on April 4, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Walt was born in Chicago, IL to Sophie and Frank Ciesla. He was the loving husband of the late Dorothy Mazner, and is survived by his children Richard (Margaret) Ciesla and Janet (Harold) Cox, two siblings Edward Ciesla and Lillian McCune, grandchildren Kendra (Byron), Carolyn, Katie (Eric), Lauren (Eric) and Bryan, and six great-grandchildren Emma, Elle, Liam, Frances, Ethan, and Weston. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and eight siblings. Walt was a dedicated member of the communities in which he lived. He was a Lake County, IL board member and a city council alderman for the City of Waukegan, IL. As a devoted parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes (Sun City West, AZ), he served as an usher, a fourth-degree member of the Knights of Columbus - Past Faithful Navigator for Sun City, AZ Assembly #1673 and Past Grand Knight for Waukegan, IL Council #731. He served as a board member for the Sun City West (SCW) Foundation and PORA - Sun City West where he served as Chairman of the Bingo Committee. His career spanned over sixty years working for the Chicago Tribune, managing the Larsen and Peterson Paint, Hobbies and Toy Store and Interstate Electric in Waukegan, IL before retiring to his volunteer career in Sun City West, AZ. One of his beloved hobbies included weekly trips to the local casino.In lieu of flowers, Walt has requested that donations be made in his name to St. Mary's Food Bank Alliance.
