Volunteering at One Small Step fills void for Gilbert woman

Tracy Pagano was like many who felt the weight of the pandemic.

Pagano was a counselor at Desert Ridge High School, but education was an especially hard field to work in as pandemic-related strife tore the community apart.

On top of it, her father had died and her mom had dementia. She had her own family to take care of. Something had to give, she said, and that was her job. She left in September 2020.
