OPINION — As a Marine Corps veteran and an advocate for reproductive freedom, I am outraged by this administration’s disregard for women veterans and our families.
At the end of last year, the Trump administration banned access to abortion care for veterans who rely on the Veterans Affairs health system. Despite the fact that we protected and served this country, this administration is disregarding our contributions and undermining the freedoms that many of us fought to protect.
While I was on active duty, I became pregnant and sought out abortion care because it was the best decision for me, my future and my family. Getting an abortion allowed me to continue serving this country while also raising a family on my own terms.
