The Madison Center for the Arts will stage the family production of “The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show” in Phoenix later this summer.
The show is set to run from Saturday, Aug. 26 to Sunday, Oct. 8. It will also serve as the kickoff performance for the theater’s 2023-2024 Broadway season.
Children and families are invited to experience Eric Carle’s imagined stories come to life at a special event featuring a variety of enchanting puppets and special audience participation elements. In addition to “The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show,” audiences can take in “10 Little Rubber Ducks,” “The Very Lonely Firefly,” and “Brown Bear, Brown Bear.”
Created by Jonathan Rockefeller and produced by Rockefeller Studios, “The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show” has performed more than 2,000 shows worldwide including sold out performances in Australia, New Zealand, China, Singapore, Dubai, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Canada, Luxemburg, Netherlands and New York City.
“After bringing the show across the globe, we are thrilled to perform the ‘Hungry Caterpillar’ in Phoenix at The Madison Center for the Arts,” Rockefeller shared in a statement. “There is something so very special about Eric Carle’s work that allows so many children to experience the magic of theatre for the very first time – with a character they love.”
The show features 75 puppets designed and built by Rockefeller Studios, and music by longtime Rockefeller collaborator Nate Edmondson. The book written by Carle features four of his stories.
Performances for “The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show” will run Fridays through Sundays starting on Aug. 26 and ending Oct. 8. Tickets range from $15 to $55, and are available at themadison.org.
