Posted
Veronica Walsh Northcutt, 83, pas- sed away peacefully and into eternal rest on July 28th after a courageous battle with cancer, her husband of 30 years, Lance, by her side.Veronica was born on January 3, 1934 in Liverpool, England to Christina Rice Walsh and John Walsh. She emigrated to this country in 1953, lived in Wisconsin, New York, Alabama, St. Louis, MO, and Bolingbrook, IL, where in 1986 she met her current husband Lance. She was a resident of Sun City, AZ since 1995 and embraced life there.Veronica, or Vera, as she was also known, loved life and all it had to offer. She was both a homemaker and a businesswoman, working for several companies over the years, starting her own wedding planning business at one time. Veronica never met a stranger and would strike up a conversation with anyone. She "collected" people wherever she went and turned them into friends. She was a vibrant individual with an infectious laugh, and a positive outlook on life, always looking for the good in people. She had many interests and loved getting involved in activities. She loved entertaining, cooking, traveling - especially cruises, playing dominoes with friends, bowling, golf, reading, knitting, her yoga class, walking her beloved dog, Brutie, and just try getting her off the dance floor! She looked forward to Sundays and attending St. Clement of Rome Church; in 20 years she rarely missed 9:00 A.M. Mass.Vera had a special affinity with animals, coaxing hummingbirds to eat out of her hand. Most of all she loved taking care of her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, auntie, and friend. She will be missed by all who knew her.Veronica is survived by her husband, Lance, her children Roxane Porter (Scott), Michael Boettge, David Boettge (Pam), and Susan Stewart (Jeff); her beloved ten grandchildren Molly, Casey, Philip, Bram, Noelle, Samantha, Jeffrey, Alex, Ashley, Amanda; ten great-grandchildren Megan, Maddox, Jasen, Savanna, Ethan, Reese, Morgan, Levi, Jude, and Rielle; her sisters Mary Patricia Jones and Jacqueline King, sister-in-law Ann Northcutt; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. There will be a celebration of her life on Sunday, September 17th from 1:00 P.M. - 4:00 P.M. at Talisman Hall Recreation Center, Lakes West golf course. As this is a celebration you are invited to dress colorfully, as Veronica always did.Special thank you to the wonderful people of Hospice of the Valley, who were so caring and compassionate in helping Veronica and Lance navigate her final journey.
