Vera Eileen Strobel KeelerVera Eileen Strobel Keeler of Sun City West, passed away Jan. 27, 2007. She was born June 10, 1925 in Ness City, Kansas. She graduated from Ness City High School in 1943. During her high school years, Vera played the saxophone at state and national competitions, and was always active in the vocal music concerts. She then attended Kansas University. She moved to Los Angeles, Calif., in 1950. While working for Industria Americana, her boss introduced her to his brother and her future husband, Marland Keeler. They were married in Las Vegas on May 14, 1955. For close to 30 years, Vera was the office manager for Industria Americana and was also the premier planner of office picnics and parties. For years, she enjoyed singing with the Sweet Adelines and she and Marlin were quite the bowling duo. The couple moved to Sun City West in 1988. Since 1989 she has been a well-known member of the Theater West, serving as president and perhaps best known as "the woman who ran the show back stage." She also performed with the Sun City West Karaoke Club and Ladies in Red. She is survived by her sister, Evelyn McCubbin; brother, Clyde Eldon Strobel; a number of nieces, nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marland, and sister, Joyce Henry. Memorial donations may be made in Vera"s honor to St. Joseph"s Foundation, 350 W.
