Venomous insects, reptiles share Valley homes

Arizona has 19 different types of rattlesnakes, as well as scorpions, tarantulas, centipedes and spiders, which can all lead to health concerns for Valley homeowners

But Dale DeNardo, Arizona State University profession of School of Life Sciences, said those reptiles and more should not deter anyone from going out and being active or appreciating the desert.

“Venomous things are relatively small, which means you are safe and do not have to run if you see something because these things will not attack you,” he explained, adding the only exception is swarms of Africanized honey bees, which can be aggressive.
