A few years ago in Arizona, the state was nearly at the top of the heap for vehicle stolen, and the Sun Cities were contributors.
Arizona was second in the nation in 2019 for stolen vehicles, according to Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office District 3 Lt. Scott Keller. But in the past three years stolen vehicles in the state decreased to the point where Arizona is now 14th in the U.S.
“Auto theft is almost epidemic in the western United States, but there was a 1.2% decrease in Arizona,” Keller said during a Sun City presentation.
