Veda Alice Walek, 1942-2018. Veda, age 75, was born in Rochester, NY and passed away January 31, 2018 after a three-year battle with ALS. Daughter of Claude Oren Robinson and Alice Rose Robinson (Putzig).Growing up she enjoyed Girl Scouts and her school safety patrol.She moved to Arizona in 1964, lived at the Silver Spur on the Apache Trail for a few years before moving to Peoria until 1979, then settled in Apache Junction in view of her beloved Superstition Mountains. She was a homemaker, news circulation manager, truck driver, school bus driver, Campfire Girl leader, caregiver and a volunteer for the Pinal County Search and Rescue Posse.Survived by her husband, Ronald Walek; daughters, Gretchen Ashton, Robin Zepke, Debra Reed and Laurie Crawford; grandchildren Justin Nye, Anthony Zepke, Meagan Zepke, Stephanie Smyers, Payson Crawford, JC Reed and Ty Reed and great-grandchildren, Alyssa Nye, Katrina Nye Gavin Nye, Cayden Smyers, Liam Nye, Grayson Nye, Serenity Dugger and Troy Smyers.In loving memory of Veda and in lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to: The ALS Association http://www.alsa.org
