Valley’s creep toward record heat increases chance of rattlesnake encounters

Temperatures in the Phoenix area are expected to reach records this weekend, and that’s just fine with sidewinders, Western diamondbacks and other rattlesnakes.

Saturday’s high was expected to get to 92 degrees, which would crack the previous record of 89, according to the National Weather Service.

Sunday's and Monday's expected highs of 94 and 90 degrees also would be records.
