Valley Youth Theater takes step toward getting new home

Valley Youth Theater took its first step toward getting a new home last week.

Phoenix City Council voted unanimously during its July 2 meeting to approve $1 million for a contract with DLR Group Inc. to start design on a new theater for the group at the southeast corner of Second and McKinley streets in downtown Phoenix.

“When this facility is finished, it will bring two theaters and close to 400 seats close to District 7, which will be a great investment to our arts scene and our investing back into Black and Brown youth in the district,” said District 7 Councilmember Anna Hernandez.
