Valley water officials say other states need to cut more

AMWUA urges federal direction

Members of a water authority for Valley cities last week complained about a lack of direction from the federal government on water conservation for Southwestern states and said other states need to do more.

“Everyone needs to step up. Arizona has been carrying this on our shoulders way too long. Everyone needs to step up now. It’s too serious; we can’t just do it by ourselves,” said Warren Tenney, executive director of the Arizona Municipal Water Users Association during the group’s Aug. 25 meeting.

The group’s board of directors discussed advocating to Arizona’s members of Congress to push for direction on a federal level.
