Valley shooting leads to police pursuit, suspect arrest in southern Arizona

A 28-year-old man is in custody after a double shooting in Phoenix led to a police pursuit that ended with his arrest in southern Arizona.
Just after 1:30 a.m. Nov. 8, Phoenix police officers responded to a shooting call near 43rd Avenue and McDowell Road. When officers arrived, they found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds.
They were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to a Phoenix Police Department release.
Police went to the original shooting scene that was nearby, and the suspect was identified as Luis Lopez Gutierrez, who had left the area, authorities said.
Officers located his vehicle shortly after the investigation began, and it was tracked heading south on Interstate 10. Arizona Department of Public Safety troopers attempted a traffic stop, but the suspect refused to do so, the release stated.
He was taken into custody near Marana and then to a hospital for injuries suffered during the incident.
Authorities brought him back to Phoenix, and he was booked on multiple felony charges, including aggravated assault, disorderly conduct with a firearm, trespassing, discharging a firearm at a non-residential structure, discharging a firearm at a residential structure, unlawful discharge of a firearm within and into the limits of a municipality and misconduct involving weapons, police said.
