Valley residents defrauded by jury duty scam

Court officials warn to not pay over phone

If someone calls demanding payment for “jury service fines” over the phone, they are scammers.

That’s according to Maricopa County Superior Court officials, who are warning county residents about a scam demanding payment over the phone for failure to appear for jury duty.

Matthew Martin, jury administrator for the Maricopa County Superior Court, said his office has been made aware of two recent instances of this type of scam. He would not speculate how many people across the county might have been defrauded by the scams.
