Valley groups combat Alzheimer's Disease in Blacks, Hispanics

Banner Health is joining forces with partner organizations to raise awareness about Alzheimer’s Disease in communities of color.

Black and Hispanic people are at an increased risk of developing the memory loss disease but are less likely to access care and resource s , the Phoenix- based provider said. To combat this, the Banner Sun Health Research Institute and Banner Alzheimer’s Institute have partnered with First Institutional Baptist Church and FIBCO Family Services Inc., along with the Desert Southwest chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association in the Valley, to create “Real Talk,” a monthly series of free, two-hour workshops.
