Valley group gets help feeding homeless seniors via Sun City West sandwiches

Helps homeless seniors at the Justa Center

A group of Sun City West residents comes together every Monday to give back to homeless seniors.

Shepherd of the Hills Methodist Church, 13658 W. Meeker Blvd., volunteers have been working since 2019 to make peanut butter-and-jelly, ham-and-cheese or bologna-and-cheese sandwiches for homeless seniors. Through a program with the Justa Resource and Day Center, 1001 W. Jefferson Street in Phoenix, these handmade sandwiches get delivered and handed out to those in need.

“There was a request from the Justa Center and the program used to be with the group of people who attended Saturday night church would return on Sunday mornings to make sandwiches,” said Joyce Rapp, a Shepherd of the Hills Methodist Church volunteer.
