Some Phoenix leaders hope a new partnership with a promotion office more than 7,000 miles away will help land more heavy-hitting companies in the Valley of the Sun.
The Greater Phoenix Economic Council announced on Aug. 24 that officials signed an agreement with the Taiwan-USA Industrial Cooperation Promotion Office to help lure companies to the Phoenix area.
The regional economic development group is looking to expand on gains made by luring one of the largest global semiconductor makers to the region. On March 31, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. and the city of Phoenix signed a development agreement that will bring a $12 billion chip manufacturing center to northwest Phoenix.
