Valley cities adjust mask policies

New CDC policies push adjustments

City officials around the Valley are maneuvering guidelines so mask policies mirror that of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which recently changed its guidance amid falling COVID-19 cases.

Maricopa County is deemed to be at a “medium-risk level” for COVID-19 infections.

CDC officials use metrics such as new COVID-19 hospitalizations, current hospital capacity by COVID-19 patients and new COVID-19 cases to determine if an area’s risk is low, medium or high.
