Valley blues man Sugaray Rayford putting finishes touches on new album

Grammy nominee on the road plenty this summer, but a follow-up to 2024’s ‘Human Decency’ album looks to be close

Sugaray Rayford is on the run this summer and is close to wrapping up a new album.

The Grammy-nominated soul blues singer, who makes his home in Maricopa, is in Los Angeles this week recording the follow up to his 2024 record “Human Decency,” which the Blues Music Awards nominated for Soul Blues Album of the Year.

When not laying down his lead vocals (vocal tracks for nine new songs are in the can) Shug has been living out of a suitcase of late. On June 11 he was performing in Basel, Switzerland, and June 22 and June 27, respectively, he has gigs in Belgium and Austria where fans there will get up close with one of the most successful American blues men on the scene today.
