Valerie Wallace

Valerie Wallace, 84Sun City resident Valerie C. Wallace died July 5, 2008 surrounded by her family. Ms. Wallace was born Sept. 5, 1923 on a farm in Fillmore County, Minn., to Thomas and Olga Ask. She was a loving, devoted wife and mother who raised her family in Denver, Colo. Her love of family and friends were the most important thing in her life.She worked at Samsonite Luggage until her retirement when she and her husband moved to Sun City in 1988. Her retirement years were filled with multiple activities including, weaving, square dancing, serving as an active member in the American Lutheran Church and volunteering at the Westside Lutheran Thrift Store.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 59 years, Joe S. Wallace; and a brother, Stanley Ask.She is survived by three children, Kristie Hotchkiss of Austin, Texas, Ron Wallace of Costa Mesa, Calif., and Dale Wallace of Denver, Colo.; brother, Maynard Ask of Fountain, Minn.; sister, Delores Cornell of Georgetown, Texas; three grandchildren, Amanda Pendroza, Kelsey Hotchkiss and Cody Wallace. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to American Lutheran Church, Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014, or American Cancer Society.
