Vacant Peoria Unified seat to be filled through election process

The seat of former Peoria Unified governing board member Bill Sorenesen will remain vacant until early next year, according to the Maricopa County School Superintendent's Office.

PUSD spokeswoman Danielle Airey said because the seat is set to be filled through the general election in November, there will be no need to fill it by appointment.

Newly elected board members will be sworn in at the district's first governing board meeting in January.
