A club in Sun City West will host a group from the Utah Shakespeare Festival this weekend.

Theatre West, the Sun City West theatre group, will host a group from the Utah Shakespeare Festival.

The group will perform Othello for two shows in Sun City West at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18 at the Stardust Theatre, 14401 N. R.H. Johnson Blvd. Tickets are free.

This modern version of Shakespeare is performed all over the country, including workshops at Willow Canyon High School Friday, Feb. 17, 17901 W. Lundberg St.

Steven Johnsen, Theatre West, said the group is dedicated to three main shows a year, including two shows and a musical. He said in a recent performance of Grease, the average age of performers was 78.

According to Johnsen, this is the third time the Utah Shakespeare Festival, which is a way everyone can learn about Shakespeare.

“We have an incredible asset here in Sun City West with this theatre and we wanted to do something for the community,” Johnsen said.

The Theatre West board said this is an opportunity to get people accustomed to coming to the Stardust Theatre and see the potential for brining in other shows.
