U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick visits TSMC Arizona

U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick visited Phoenix's Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. on Tuesday to see the groundbreaking of its third fab, according to a press release.

Last month, TSMC Arizona announced it committed to build three fabrication centers in north Phoenix. The second Phoenix fab is scheduled to begin volume production in 2028 and the third fab in Arizona is expected to begin production by the end of the decade, according to a TSMC Arizona spokeswoman.

"We were delighted to welcome U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick to TSMC Arizona ," said TSMC Chairman and CEO Dr. C.C. Wei in a press release.  "...We are grateful for the Secretary’s commitment to supporting the advanced semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem."
