Peoria to hike development impact fees in north part of city

Fees will go into effect Dec. 15

Peoria City Council Oct. 1 approved updated development impact fees, one-time charges meant to offset the cost of future development.

Councilmember Brad Shafer dissented. He represents the Mesquite District where some fees will go up significantly.

Municipalities are required to update their development impact fees every five years to adjust to growth patterns, infrastructure costs and changes to land use assumptions, according to state law.
