Palm struck by lightning

Wind, thunder, rain and lightning are all part of a monsoon storm, and sometimes those bolts of lightning can spark vegetation and pose a safety hazard.

While residents cannot prevent a lightning strike to palm trees erect 35 feet in the air, there are ways to help minimize the chances of a nearby home catching fire and also things to think about when it comes to planting them near hazards.
