After 117-year-old house is relocated, Phoenix redraws its historic preservation lines

You can’t change history, but you can move it.

The 117-year-old Seargeant-Oldaker House in Phoenix is being relocated just a few dozen feet to the corner of the property it sits on so that the property owner can build multifamily housing on the rest of the property.

The city of Phoenix is now redrawing the Historic Preservation Overlay zoning lines around the new location. The Phoenix Historic Preservation Commission unanimously approved the change on Monday. It will go to Phoenix City Council for final approval.
