Phoenix music museum to celebrate Polynesian culture

This weekend brings two days of Experience Polynesia to Musical Instrument Museum

The Musical Instrument Museum this weekend will celebrate the history of the cultures that make up the island region of Polynesia through music and dance.

The exhibition Experience Polynesia, on Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 17 and 18, will feature interactive workshops such as learning the basics of Māori poi or the ukulele, performances like Hawaiian slack-key guitar by four-time Grammy winner George Kahumoku Jr. and Tahitian drumming by Alo ole Pasefika, and educational presentations including curator talks and lectures on Hawaiian musical instruments.
