Voters down Arizona Coyotes planned Tempe arena

Unofficial results show three propositions defeated easily

Initial counts for the May 16 special election to approve or deny the proposed Tempe Entertainment District show voters rejected the project, according to unofficial results.

Unofficial results by the Maricopa County Elections Department posted on May 16 at 8 p.m. point to Propositions 301, 302 and 303 all being defeated.

If approved, the propositions would have allowed Alex Meruelo’s Bluebird Development to proceed with the construction of a mixed-use development that will transform an abandoned city landfill into a new stadium for the Coyotes among a number of new attractions.
