Unofficial results: Prop. 479 passes overwhelmingly in Maricopa County

Maricopa County voters have voted to continue paying a half cent sales tax to fund roads and transit infrastructure, according to unofficial results from maricopa County Elections.

Proposition 479 "yes" votes scored 59% with "no" votes" coming in at 40%.

The potential approval was hailed by Maricopa County backers as a way to move forward with transtportation in the region.
