Valley residents know that Tempe-based Carvana on Tuesday announced it was laying off approximately 2,500 employees. What remains unclear is what impact this move will have, or not have, on its upcoming Glendale location.
The online automotive retailer earned design approval from the city of Glendale this past summer for a new dealership on Bell Road just off the Loop 101, and the site has been under construction throughout the winter and spring. Carvana will join a cluster of other dealerships in that area of Bell Road straddling Glendale and Peoria.
In its Tuesday filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Carvana noted that the downsizing will impact some operations.
