Two Scottsdale Unified School District high schools are among 13 Valley teams selected to participate in a baseball themed robotics competition hosted by the Arizona Diamondbacks and Honeywell Aerospace. Both Arcadia and Saguaro high schools will compete in the contest at Chase Field Sept. 8.
Each team received a VEX V5 starter kit and inertial sensor to help build their robot, and now representatives from the Diamondbacks and Honeywell will watch the teams’ creations come to life during a three-part competition. Each robot will be judged on how many home runs it can hit during a home run derby, how well it can field a ball, and how accurate it can throw a ball.
