Two Scottsdale riders join race to fund cancer research

Two Scottsdalians, Christopher Hunt and Tim Preston, will join approximately 6,000 cyclists at the Pan-Mass Challenge in Needham, Massachusetts, Aug. 1-2 to raise funds for cancer research and patient care at the the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

Pan-Mass Challenge organizers are aiming to raise $79 million this year through the event, according to a press release.

This year’s Pan-Mass Challenge comes at an especially critical time, with federal research support shrinking, grant approval rates reaching historic lows, and cancer cases continuing to rise. For the 20th consecutive year, 100% of every rider-raised dollar will go directly to Dana-Farber, one of the nation’s top three hospitals for cancer research and care, according to the release.
