Two Phoenix fireworks shows switch to drones over air quality concerns

More could change in the coming years

Multiple Phoenix fireworks shows are changing to drone light shows to help mitigate air pollution caused by fireworks.

City council members on Wednesday also suggested other shows might make the switch next year.

The Deer Valley Fourth of July fireworks event is changing to drones, as is the Double Ten Day celebration on Oct. 10 at Arizona State University’s West Valley Campus. The latter celebrates Taiwan’s independence day, in partnership with Phoenix Sister Cities, which includes Tapei, Taiwan.
