A vehicle collision Wednesday in north Phoenix resulted in two people dead, Phoenix Police said in a release.
Officers responded to reports of a vehicle collision about 2:10 p.m. Oct. 15 in the area of 35th Avenue and Union Hills Drive. Upon arrival, officers found an SUV and a sedan involved in the collision.
The driver of the SUV, 37-year-old Pedro Lopez Cardona, was ejected from the vehicle and died from his injuries on scene. The driver of the sedan suffered serious injuries and was taken to the hospital, where she remains in critical condition. The front seat passenger of the sedan, 63-year-old Boniface Black, suffered fatal injuries and also died on scene, according to the release.

A vehicle collision Wednesday in north Phoenix resulted in two people dead, Phoenix Police said in a release.
Officers responded to reports of a vehicle collision about 2:10 p.m. Oct. 15 in the area of 35th Avenue and Union Hills Drive. Upon arrival, officers found an SUV and a sedan involved in the collision.
The driver of the SUV, 37-year-old Pedro Lopez Cardona, was ejected from the vehicle and died from his injuries on scene. The driver of the sedan suffered serious injuries and was taken to the hospital, where she remains in critical condition. The front seat passenger of the sedan, 63-year-old Boniface Black, suffered fatal injuries and also died on scene, according to the release.
Detectives responded to investigate the incident and process the scene, according to the release.
Preliminary information suggests the SUV was heading westbound on Union Hills Drive, at a high rate of speed when it ran the red light and collided with the sedan, which was making a left-hand turn to go north on 35th Avenue.
The investigation remains active as detectives continue to process the evidence.
