Turnout high for Ash Wednesday services as COVID fear down

Strong attendance had a few West Valley church officials scrambling to hold Ash Wednesday mass as the pandemic is showing signs of letting up from higher risk of infection.

On Wednesday, Sun City’s St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church was humming as dozens of worshippers filled the pews of the congregation to hear the 12 p.m. mass.

Deacon Jeffrey Arner has been with the St. Elizabeth church for about two years. He said he anticipated the day to be busy after he went to the morning service. At noon, there weren’t very many seats available in a building that seats about 600.
