Posted

Charlie Kirk, founder of Phoenix-based Turning Point USA, was shot in Utah and killed.

Kirk was doing a question-and-answer event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, and was with hundreds of students. The event was caught on video by multiple bystanders.

Multiple media outlets reported Kirk had died following a message from President Donald Trump posted to Truth Social.

A suspect is in custody according to UVU authorities and the campus is on lockdown.

Kirk is a close political ally with Donald Trump and has campaigned with many political figures like Kari Lake and Andy Biggs.

Lake immediately took to X to pray for the Kirk family and speak out against the suspect.

Former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, a Democrat who was shot at a mass shooting in Tucson in 2011,  condemned the shooting in a post on X.

Her husband, Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly, also condemned the shooting as well as political violence, in a post on Threads.

This is an ongoing investigation and will be updated as more details are announced.
