Donald Trump, narrowly elected as the 47th president, is poised to drag America down like the Titanic. His leadership isn’t just chaotic; it’s dangerous and absurd, with a roadmap learned from tutoring sessions with dictators like Putin and Kim Jong-un.
Trump’s ideas, such as annexing Canada, “taking back” the Panama Canal or renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the “Gulf of America,” are embarrassing. Yet, they pale in comparison to his promises of mass deportations, silencing dissent and waging war on the free press.
Truth-tellers — journalists, whistleblowers and citizens who dare to speak out — risk harassment, legal threats or worse. In Trump’s America, dissent is punished, and truth becomes the first casualty.
His infamous “pay-for-play” appointments are back, with reports of convicted felon Charles Kushner being considered for ambassador to France. Nepotism, corruption and loyalty — not qualifications — define Trump’s administration.
Meanwhile, he’s inheriting a strong economy built by President Biden, who stabilized inflation and created millions of jobs. Trump will shamelessly take credit while dismantling the very policies that made this recovery possible.
Globally, Trump’s admiration for dictators weakens democratic alliances while emboldening autocrats. His disdain for NATO, diplomacy and international cooperation leaves America isolated and less secure.
Trump’s slim victory is no mandate; it’s a warning. Democracy erodes slowly, and his second term threatens to accelerate its collapse. The cost of losing democracy far outweighs the temporary frustrations of inflation or egg prices.
Trump isn’t steering the Titanic — he is the Titanic. Strap on your lifejackets.
