OPINION — I am saddened and troubled by the recent reports regarding Cesar Chavez and understand how difficult this news is for many in our community. His role in the farmworker movement has inspired generations, and it is hard to reconcile that legacy with these allegations.
The movement was critical for workers and was built by many who fought for dignity and justice. These are values that must continue to guide us today.
I want to take this opportunity to recognize Dolores Huerta and the other women who have come forward. Their experiences deserve to be met with care, respect and seriousness.
