Troopers seize pounds of suspected fentanyl heading for Phoenix
Arizona troopers discovered 68 pounds of drugs following a traffic stop near Yuma, authorities said.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, a trooper stopped a car on eastbound Interstate 8 near Yuma. During the Oct. 5 stop, a search was conducted, and troopers found 52 pounds of suspected fentanyl pills and 16 pounds of suspected fentanyl powder in the sedan’s fuel tank.
The driver, Michelle Gonzalez Rodriguez, 21, of Mexicali, Mexico, was arrested and booked into the Yuma County Jail on charges including possession and transportation of narcotic drugs for sale, DPS stated in a release.

The passenger, Dayanara Gonzalez Rodriguez, 20, of Hemet, Calif., was arrested and booked on charges including possession and transportation of narcotic drugs for sale.
Authorities said the suspected fentanyl was being smuggled from Mexicali to Phoenix.
