An Arizona trooper used a Taser on a man Thursday morning after he attempted to run away from a one-vehicle crash in Mesa, authorities said.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, a car slammed into a wall at Loop 202 and Mesa Drive on Thursday, Oct. 20, and when troopers arrived, no one was in the vehicle.
As they investigated, a man walked toward them from the Mesa Drive overpass. DPS officials said the man was “erratic” and fought with the troopers who placed him in handcuffs as they tried to put him in a patrol vehicle.

The suspect began running away, and a Taser was used, according to DPS. The man was taken to a hospital.
DPS said the car he was driving is reported stolen out of Phoenix.
The suspect gave troopers several different names, authorities said, adding he will be booked into jail once his identity is established.
He faces charges of forgery, trespassing and resisting arrest, and additional charges may be forthcoming, DPS officials said.
