Trees no longer allowed in medians

MCDOT trims during odd years

Palm trees in the median continue to lead conversations in Sun City West.

Erika Flores, Maricopa County Department of Transportation communications branch manager, said the organization works with a contractor to maintain the palm tree in the median on R.H. Johnson Boulevard every even years and the Recreation Centers of Sun City West is responsible every odd years.

“The shrubs, weeds, smaller trees and trash are maintained by the Sun City West PRIDES, and this is done usually on Saturdays with MCDOT providing traffic control. MCDOT also assists with irrigation and repairs in the median,” she explained.
